What is Essential Tremor?
Essential Tremor (ET) is a neurological movement disorder that causes involuntary, rhythmic shaking, most commonly affecting the hands and arms. It can also affect the head, voice, and other parts of the body.
Unlike some other types of tremor, essential tremor is typically most noticeable during movement or when holding a position, such as writing, eating, drinking, or using your hands. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may gradually worsen over time.
While there is currently no cure for essential tremor, effective treatments are available to help reduce symptoms and improve daily function and quality of life. Treatment may include medications, lifestyle modifications, and advanced therapies depending on the severity of symptoms.
